Other pets rehoming - guidelines

Guidelines for posting

All members may post to this forum, however posts require moderator approval before they are added to the board. Please submit your post as normal, and a moderator will approve it as soon as possible. You will be automatically notified when it is approved.

Please use the template available here for your posts and make sure the subject line is filled in appropriately - posts not using the template may be rejected.

Posts may be made only to advertise the animals for rehoming, and to update the thread: please do not update posts more than once a week unless there are significant changes to report. To offer a home, help with transport, etc, please contact the member named in the post using the links to PM, telephone or email given in the post. Please do not contact Fancy Rats Admin (either collectively or via individual moderators), and do not reply to the post, as such replies will be deleted.

Animals that may be posted to this forum are: mice, hamsters, gerbils, guniea pigs, rabbits, spiny mice, multimammates, chinchillas, degus, ferrets and hedgehogs. Larger animals such as dogs and cats, and highly specialist animals such as reptiles and birds are not currently allowed, but a list of specialist online resources that may be more appropriate is being compiled here. If you wish to rehome an animal not covered above, please send a PM to Fancy Rats Admin who will consider them on a case by case basis.

As for rats, the following categories of animals are not permitted to be advertised:

Purposefully bred animals.
Animals which are for sale (though a donation may be made towards rescue).
Animals which have been bought in order to be rehomed - whether from pet shops, auctions, adtrader or private sale. These are not considered rescues and may not be advertised on the forum, regardless of the conditions in which they were kept.*

*Paying money for these animals only supports those who breed and trade them, and cannot be condoned. Where such animals are obtained for free, i.e. no money has changed hands, they may be considered rescues. We do not expect members to buy animals and then try to rehome them here.

The following categories of animals are not generally permitted to be advertised, but will be considered on a case by case basis by admin:

Animals not in rescue that are the result of an accidental mating.
Animals not in rescue that result from missexing by petshops or the purchase of pregnant animals from a pet shop.
Unwanted breeding animals of any age.

Fancy Rats does not support the trade of animals via petshops. Therefore advertising of any animal on behalf of any organisation that sources its animal 'stock' from rodent farms or breeders that breed intensively and for profit and sells on the animals is not allowed.

Members may submit details of animals being rehomed by a third party (whether that is a rescue, individual, free-ad, etc) only if you first give the advertiser the opportunity to post here themselves (ie. send them a link and helpful advice), or if they give permission to an established Fancy Rats member to act as a contact. This removes any legal issues with regards to telephone numbers being reproduced without permission, and enables you to provide potential adopters with more information before expressing an interest in the animal.

When an animal has been rehomed please update your thread so admin can lock it.

Autopruning
Autoprune is a feature that automatically deletes threads that have not been posted to within a certain time-period.
In this forum autoprune is set to 4 weeks - i.e. any posts not updated within 4 weeks will be deleted. Responsibility to update rehoming threads lies with the member who initially posted them. Admin will not bump threads or request updates.
Regards,
Fancy Rats Team
