Can I seperate my Bucks?
One of my Boys, 2 years in May, has decided for reasons I don't understand to pick fights with all of his 3 Brothers. I don't know what's going on but he's seriously stressing the other 3 out. Would it be unfair to give him a separate living space?

Swollen side of face...
Hi everyone! Happy New Year. Onyx is 20 months old and lives alongside his 3 brothers. A couple of days ago I noticed his nose was a smidge red and then this morning he has woken up with a big swelling on one side of his face that is causing his eye to be slightly squinted. There doesn't seem to be ...

How long does Harkametcin take to kick in?
Hi. Just treated all 4 of my bucks for lice. Having many pet rats throughout my childhood this is my first time having to treat lice.
I'm assuming they don't cross species with us humans? They give me the heebie jeebies...!
Anyway, how long will it take to notice the effects??

Kitchen roll vs shredded fleece
Hi! My boys reeeaally like to tear apart kitchen roll and use it as bedding but we are going through a LOT of towelling  I was considering buying some fleece and shredding it up for them to then use as their bedding as this will probably be more durable and maybe (?) reusable if I put them in w...

Re: Dealing with a bully
Thankyou so much for the reply. Maybe I should get them all neutured...? As for feeding - I scatter feed but he will stay away from any of it while the others are busy foraging. I do however include lots of cage enrichment with lots of treats hidden in different bits and bobs that never gets fought ...

Dealing with a bully
Happy New Year!! I have 4 Bucks that I love dearly. I bought them together from a lovely breeder and they have always been happy, sociable, friendly rats. Lately I've noticed that the dynamics have changed in their cage. They have a huuuge cage, lots of room! But one of them, Cracker, has taken to w...

Is free range a forced activity?
I have four 8 week old (tomorrow) bucks.... Who I LOVE!!!! I have had them since Saturday and I've been doing a mixture gentle and forced bonding. Sometimes I'll offer my hand with treats on for them to clamber over, sometimes I'll pop them in my big cardigan to run around in and other times I'll st...

Re: How do I wash hammocks/soft items
I was considering this. I wasn't sure if it'd be too harsh. I guess if I rinse well it'll be fine..

Re: How do I wash hammocks/soft items
Thankyou so much!
I don't suppose I could boggle your brain about cleaning the cage itself. I really want to stay as far away from harsh chemicals as I can.
I have seen a few things about white wine vinegar and water 1:1 ratio. Does that sound sufficient?
