Re: Wood branches from outside for the cage?

I buy apple sticks from the shop for them to gnaw on. But I have a apple tree on my allotement... maybe that's where my pruning could go instead of the compost bin?

Re: Wood branches from outside for the cage?

Thank you so much Mary for your response. It has helped alot, as researching online can get full on after a while.

Now to find some silver birch, maple and yes I think I can get hazel but it is from a coppiced plant so branches are very straight. Which I can angle like you said.

Re: Kitchen roll vs shredded fleece

Amazing, I just stumbled across the site after lots of searching around the topic. So I am very glad you know of ger.

Could I ask the reason for adding some topsoil? And do you need to get the sterilised kind?

Thanks,
LP

Re: The Shunamite diet

 the PAH nuggets did shock me but I took note that the post was a while ago. I would absolutely love it if you had time to look at the mix. It's abit worrying as something just doesn't feel right about it. They do seem to enjoy it except the seeds. 50-60% base mix (reggie rat mix? 20-25% proces...

Re: shelves

Hey Mary, Thanks for your advice! Everything you said in the first paragraph is what I have been researching which makes me super happy :D And I agree with your advice about getting a couple more friends. I have been searching for a breeder but seem to have come to a bit of a struggle. As I found on...

Re: Sudden and rapid decline

This is really sad. I am sorry to hear about your story, and hope you are well.

You sound like you did the best you could. I am not knowledgeable about the medications and doses like yourself. Maybe a subject I should read about.

shelves

This is a great read, thank you for writing this. I am thinking of removing a shelf or two, but I am not sure. I have a 4 floor cage for 2girls. 2 full big shelves and 2 half shelves. It looks like it gives them plenty of room to bop bop around. But I have been reading articles lately that some sho...

The Shunamite diet

Hey guys,

I have been reading about making my own rat food. I've started making a mix but would like to adjust some ingredients. Just wanted to check if this info is still up to date.

Thanks, LP

Wood branches from outside for the cage?

Hi there, I got a small wooden branch from The Range for the cage and the girls really like it. I've been reading about gathering branches from outside for enrichment. As I would love to remove a shelf or two in the cage and add more climbing areas. I've read about sterilising the wood ( and also on...

Re: Kitchen roll vs shredded fleece

Hey Mary,

I came across bioactive areas but not looked fully into it yet. Please could you share how you started off?
I provide a dig box with coir already, so it might be something I could look into.

Thanks, LP
