It is with deep regret that we announce this forum will close on 9th April 2021, and will not be viewable after that date. The vast majority of discussion on rat care now takes place on facebook, and since the rise of that and other new social media platforms, the activity on forums has dwindled, an...

Forum downtime

The forum will be unavailable from 10:30 am BST on 4th April (tomorrow) for a short while. This is to allow for the first step in our upgrade, and further downtime will be required later on. Details will be added to this thread once we know when that will be happening. We apologise for any inconveni...

Re: Medical advice needed

(Note to admin: I can't seem to post in the Health section; not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if the new layout is not playing nicely with my computer) That must be a glitch in the new layout - thank you for highlighting it. We'll try to sort it out asap, and will move your thread once it ha...

Changes to forum layout

Over the course of this week, the forum is being reorganised to provide a simpler more streamlined set of boards for active threads. Threads which have not been active since before 2016 will be stored in an extended read only archive section, and the more recent ones moved to a new section. Please m...

Re: Banner adverts for the year 2016 - requests now invited

The new banners are now in position. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors, whose contributions make it possible for FR to pay for hosting and essential maintenance costs. If anyone would like to take one of the spare banner slots at any time later in the year (costs would be base...

The post above has been edited to reflect this, and to include the latest viewing figures. Note that we have introduced a new cheap rate banner for the quieter ...

Keeping Rats Cool In Hot Weather

Keeping Your Rats Cool In Hot Weather Whilst us humans welcome warmer temperatures and long hours of sunshine, our rat companions can often suffer when the mercury rises. Covered in a layer of fur and lacking the ability to sweat, the rat’s only real ability to control its body temperature is throu...
